From September 15th to 23th, 2017, Vienna will become the meeting point for experts around the world in the field of Rotating Electrical Machines for the 2017 CIGRE (International Committee on Large Electrical Networks) SC-A1 Colloquium and Meeting.
CIGRÉ is an organization devoted to the study, research and issuing of technical recommendations in the field of electric power systems worldwide. It is organized into 16 different committees (Study Committees-SC), each one focused on different equipment, components or aspects of the electrical power systems, with SC-A1 corresponding to the Rotating Electrical Machines.
During the seven days of the SC-A1 Congress, several meetings will be held and, as the main theme of the conference, the SC-A1 Committee will hold a symposium in which experts in the field of Rotating Electrical Machines from around the world will present their work to the audience.
Austria has a long tradition especially in Hydro Power Generation and is one of the leading countries in Hydro Power Industry. Due to the alpine structure huge Pump Storage Power Plants are installed in Austria, beside Run of River Hydro Power Plants in the more flat regions, Wind Power Generation especially in the North East and some Thermal Power Plants. Taking in consideration the significance of Hydro Power and Renewable Power in the Austrian energy generation, there is a good opportunity to share the experience within the SC-A1 study committee.
